Madrid Middle School Launches Bulldog PRIDE Program

Madrid Middle School Launches Bulldog PRIDE Program
Madrid Middle School launched its Bulldog PRIDE Program with the theme “Show Pride in Your Behavior, Your School, Your Community.”  The program is part of the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) component and encourages students to follow appropriate behavior and display their PRIDE - Positive, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Etiquette.
Throughout the week-long launch of the program, students enjoyed watching videos featuring Madrid staff and students showcasing inappropriate versus appropriate behavior in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria and restrooms.
A community service element is also part of the PRIDE program and during the week a Dollars for Scholars fundraiser was held and the Bulldogs raised $1,100 for the Bobby Salcedo Memorial Scholarship Foundation.  The successful fundraiser is the first in a series of community-oriented school-wide projects the PBIS team hopes to plan for the students.
Capping off PRIDE Week was a rally featuring Madrid alumni, Adam Carranza and Jacqueline Saldaña as guest speakers.  The two former Bulldogs are MVSD Board Members and encouraged the students to get involved in activities at Madrid and be leaders at the school and in the community. Both shared how their time at Madrid helped shape them into the service oriented leaders they are today.   As an incentive piece to the program, all students will receive a stamp card and staff members will stamp the cards when they see students displaying the qualities of Bulldog PRIDE and exhibiting positive behavior in and out of the classroom.  The stamp card can be redeemed for a variety of prizes including t-shirts, sweatshirts, water bottles, thermal bottles, cinch bags, bumper stickers, and dog tags.
