Adam Carranza was elected in 2009 to the Mountain View Board of Education.  Mr. Carranza is a product of our award-winning district having attended La Primaria, Twin Lakes, and Madrid Middle School. Additionally, he worked as a school custodian during his college years then later as an instructional assistant providing reading intervention to students needing additional support.

As a school board member his focus has been addressing the needs of English language learners and building stronger parent engagement programs. MVSD has been recognized at the state level for its transformative work with English learners and engaging parents. Focus areas include providing excellent teaching, expanding mental health counseling, expanding art education, increasing school safety, supporting immigrant families, and helping families plan for college.

Mr. Carranza works closely with local organizations to provide children's books to students year-round in the community through the Little Free Libraries initiative.

Currently, Mr. Carranza teaches students Kinder through 12th grade as a substitute teacher and is completing his teaching credential. Previously, he worked with local cities as a Project Manager working on housing initiatives and also as a Research Assistant at the University of Southern California in prevention research supporting people who were homeless, people with mental health needs, and people living with HIV.

Mr. Carranza earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from California State Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from the University of La Verne.
