AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and has as its core goal to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID students and staff volunteer to participate in the program and the AVID begins with the offering of an AVID elective class and content-area support through an interdisciplinary team approach. Over time, the long-term goal is to implement AVID strategies school-wide so that all students benefit from a rigorous, college-going culture. Our LCAP provides LCFF funding for Monte Vista, Madrid, and Kranz to implement AVID with sixth, seventh and eighth graders at these school sites.
