4th Annual Community Fair a Success

4th Annual Community Fair a Success

Mountain View School District’s 4th Annual Community Fair was a great success, bringing district families and the community together to obtain valuable resources, celebrate student artists, see STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Math) students/activities in action, enjoy student performances, sample food from district vendors and participate in fun family activities.

The District greatly appreciates its many community partners for the collaborative effort to provide families with vital information that will help improve their health and quality of life.  Participants at the Community Fair had a good time visiting the many booths and gathering important information on services available in the community including health providers, wellness, nutrition, college readiness, WIC, educational support, financial assistance, city services, and more. The Colgate Bright Smiles Bright Futures program provided free dental education and screenings to children 12 and under. Del Real Foods, Yang’s Foods, Eastside Entrees, Asian Food Solutions, JTM Food Group and The Fruit Guys shared samples of some of the quality foods MVSD students enjoy and also offered new products for students and families to taste-test.  District P.E. teachers provided fun tennis activities, and face painting and photo props provided plenty of smiles.

The large crowd was also treated to excellent student entertainment by the Madrid Middle School Jazz Band, Miramonte School’s Folklorico Group, Monte Vista’s Zumba Kids, Kranz Intermediate’s Marching Band and Drill Team, and the sixth grade Conga Kids Dancers.   A special art gallery in the library featured exceptional artwork from each school.

MVSD is dedicated to students’ health, well-being, and their ability to learn and events like the Community Fair support its wellness mission of creating an environment that supports and advocates for lifelong healthy eating habits, physical activity and mental wellness.

“It’s wonderful to see so many people take part in this worthwhile event,” said Angelica Sifuentes Donoso, MVSD’s Director Family Engagement and After School Programs.  “We greatly appreciate our many community partners for being here to provide our families with resources that will help improve their health and wellness. It’s also great to see the families enjoying time together and celebrating the wonderful work of our students.  We are grateful to everyone who participated and made our 4th Annual Community Fair such a success.”
