MVSD Honors 2018 Retiring Employees

     MVSD celebrated the distinguished careers of seven retiring employees at the District’s Retirement Social held on June 1, where families and friends gathered to recognize the wonderful retirees. 

     Honored at the event for their many years of dedicated service to the students and families of the Mountain View School District were teachers, Alfredo Donoso -28 years; Sharon Harrington-20 years; Diane Villagran Basil -36 years; Deborah Soto -39 years; and classified employees, Susana Ruiz-Instructional Assistant-34 years; Ron Torres-Lead Custodian-37 years; Maria Lupe Villasenor- Food Service Worker-28 years.

        On behalf of the Board of Education and the District, each retiree received an engraved clock and they were presented with certificates of commendation from Senator Ed Hernandez, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio and the El Monte City Council.     

        Loving tributes by colleagues, highlighting the retirees’ careers and their influence on staff and students completed the special afternoon event.

     “This is both a happy and sad occasion,” said Lillian Maldonado French, Superintendent.  “We are very happy for you as you embark on your retirement, but very sad for us because we will miss you and all you provide to our students.  We greatly appreciate the many years of dedicated service you have given to Mountain View, and are grateful for the positive impact you have made on countless students through the years.”

         Board of Education clerk, Jacqueline Saldaña thanked the retirees for their many years of devoted service to the students, families, and community.

        “On behalf of the Board of Education, we are honored to celebrate you and I want to thank you for your commitment to our District.  All of us on the Board are former students in the district and we are forever grateful to you for the many meals served, campuses cleaned, instruction provided and support given.  You are forever part of the Mountain View family and are welcome back anytime.  We wish you all the best in retirement,” she said.

     Appreciation and acknowledgements were also given to the retirees who were unable to attend the event including Maricela Aguilar - Health Clerk, Antonio Barajas - Lead Custodian, Sandra L. Booth - Teacher, Gloria Campa - Community Liaison, Mario Gonzales – Dean of Instruction, Ron Marron – Teacher, Gloria Mendoza - Food Service Worker, Jesucita Rodriguez - Food Service Worker, Julie Swenson – Teacher, Helen Teran - Media/Resource Clerk, Lydia Venegas - Library Technician, Josephine Wey – Teacher, Grant Zschomler - Maintenance Worker III, and Nellie Barcelo Huizar -Instructional Assistant.
