Monte Vista Named a Top L.A. County Public School
Monte Vista School is among 278 schools throughout Los Angeles County that are closing the achievement gap for low-income African American and Latino students.  The list of schools is published in the second annual report: L.A. Top Public Schools for Underserved Students, by Innovate Public Schools – Los Angeles, a non-profit committed to helping kids and their families access quality education, and the University of Southern California (USC).
This is the second year in a row that Monte Vista School made the list and is being recognized for supporting
their Latino students to outperform the statewide average for all students in one or more factors including math or English scores.  Monte Vista ranked in the top 10 in English Language Arts and in the top 24 in math for all of Los Angeles County and for the San Gabriel Valley sub-region, Monte Vista ranked #1 in both English Language Arts and Math.
“We are honored to achieve this distinction for the second year in row and I believe it exemplifies the quality of teaching, the value we place on family engagement, and our overall school's vision of empowerment through high expectations, achievement, and respect for all students,” said Glenda Giron, Monte Vista School’s principal.
Monte Vista School serves students in transitional kindergarten through 8th grade, who experience the joy of
learning in a safe and caring learning environment as they participate in a balanced educational program that includes academic support, differentiated instruction, hands-on learning experiences, visual and performing arts programs, study trips, 1:1 technology devices in classrooms, a college bound focus, academic counseling, social emotional development, Project Lead the Way, Robotics, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and more.
