Summer Bond Projects Bring Improvements to Schools

Measure SS, MVSD's $57.0 million general obligation (G.O.) bond program continues to address the needs of our student population through modernization and renovation projects at the schools.

The Summer 2018 Measure SS Bond construction projects are underway and include underground utilities replacement at Baker Elementary School, roofing repair/replacement at Miramonte and Voorhis Elementary Schools, and construction at the Mountain View Family Center on Mountain View Road.  The three school campuses as well as the Family Center site will remain closed through the summer due to the construction taking place.

Additionally this summer, Measure SS bond dollars are funding Phase II of the District’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Replacement Project which will replace 135 to 150 external HVAC units throughout the District.

“We are grateful to the community for their support of Measure SS and we are excited that the work continues to ensure that our students have schools that are in good condition, safe, and provide a wonderful learning environment,” said Christian Diaz, Board of Education Vice President.

MVSD’s first Measure SS Bond project, an underground utilities project at Payne School, was completed last summer and included extensive underground infrastructure improvements including the installation of new water, electrical and gas lines and a new catch basin in the field for water runoff.
